Technical Combustion I
The lecture is given in the summer term.
Lecture
The lecture takes place regularly every Monday at 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the lecture hall H06 | C.A.R.L., however, there may be changes in dates during the semester. The exact schedule can be found at RWTHmoodle.
All announcements will be on RWTHmoodle. If you have no access to the course on RWTHmoodle, please contact Terence Lehmann

Contents
A large part of our energy resources is stored chemically, for example in form of coal, petrol or natural gas. These stored energies can be made useable through combustion.
The lecture's primary focus therfore lies on the observation of combustion processes from the thermodynamic viewpoint. For this purpose, the following topics are discussed:
Balance of material and energy at infinitely fast chemical reactions and calculations of the chemical equlibrium.
In the following part chemical conversions with finite reaction rates are considered. Among them:
Gross and elementary reactions, kinetics of gas reactions, chain-reaction mechanisms, ignition and extinction processes in homogenous systems.
In the third part, the balance equations for reacting flows are derived initially. Then laminar premixed flames, as well as diffusion flames, and their application are introduced.
